Mixing vocals over beats - my approach
Posted by Leotuz (Producer) in mixing-mastering
After producing over 200 beats on beatcorelab, I've learned a lot about how to make beats that sit well under vocals. Here are some tips:
1. Leave headroom in the mid frequencies (2-5kHz) for vocals
2. Side-chain your pads to the vocal bus
3. Keep your master between -3 to -6dB to give the mixing engineer room
4. Use reference tracks
The artists who buy beats on beatcorelab often tell me they appreciate beats that are "vocal-ready." It's made a huge difference in my sales and repeat customers.
What are your mixing tips for vocal-ready beats?
